What Ayurvedic skin type am I?
Discover you Ayurvedic skin type.
Look at your skin condition in the mirror, then decide which of the answers best describes you.
If an answer does not reflect your skin type give it a miss.
If two answers seem to apply to you, say yes to both!
At the end add up how many A/B/C answers you get to reveal your Ayurvedic skin condition.
If you mainly got B's your dosha is Pitta, and you skin type is sensitive.
If you mainly got C's your dosha is Kapha, and you skin type is oily.

Ayurvedic balances the whole person, and skin beauty will follow., similar in philosophy to Scenar Cosmetology.

* to make the herbal tea infusion, pour two cups of boiling water over two tablespoons of the tea herbs in a clean glass jar. Let stand for two days, stirring occasionally. Strain and use the liquid as required.
VATA- DRY SKIN
CLEANSE
Mix one teaspoon of almond meal with half a teaspoon of dried milk, and one pinch of sugar.
Store in a small jar.
In your palm, make a paste using quarter of a teaspoon of cleanser and warm water.
Apply paste all over your face and neck.
Gently massage into the skin for one minute. Do not scrub. rinse well with warm water. Do not dry.
NOURISH
Mix 30 mls of sesame seed oil, with 10 of geranium essential oil and 5 drops each of neroli and lemon essential oil.
Store in a dark glass bottle with a dropper.
In your palm, mix 3 drops of nourishing oil plus 6 drops of water.
Apply paste all over your face and neck.
While your skin is still wet, gently massage the mixture all over your face and neck skin for one minute, or until your skin absorbs all the essential oil
MOISTURISE
Melt 45 grams of cocoa butter in a double boiler.
Add 120 mls of avocardo oil. Remove from heat.
Using a dropper add 30 mls of orange tea*- one drop at a time, while stirring the mixture.
When it is cool, add 3 to 4 drops each of geranium and rose essential oil.
Gently apply this moisturising cream over the surface of the face and neck. DO NOT MASSAGE it into the skin.
Apply as needed during the day.
KAPH - OILY SKIN
CLEANSE
Mix one teaspoon of barley meal, with one a teaspoon of lemon peel, half a teaspoon of dried milk.
Store in a small jar.
In your palm, make a paste using quarter of a teaspoon of cleanser and warm water.
Apply paste all over your face and neck.
Gently massage into the skin for one minute. Do not scrub. rinse well with warm water. Do not dry.
NOURISH
Mix 30 mls of sunflower oil, with 10 of lavender essential oil and 5 drops each of bergamot and clary sage oil.
Store in a dark glass bottle with a dropper.
In your palm, mix 2 drops of nourishing oil plus 4 drops of water.
Apply paste all over your face and neck.
While your skin is still wet, gently massage the mixture all over your face and neck skin for one minute.
MOISTURISE
Melt 45 grams of cocoa butter in a double boiler.
Add 90 mls of almond or safflower oil.
Remove from heat.
Using a dropper add 60 mls of rosemary or basil tea*- one drop at a time, while stirring the mixture.
When it is cool, add 1 drop of camphor oil, 2 drops of bergamot oil, and 3 drops of lavender essential oil.
Gently apply a very small amount of this moisturising cream over the surface of the face and neck.
DO NOT MASSAGE it into the skin.
Apply once in the morning, and once in the evening.
PITTA- SENSITIVE SKIN

Sitopaladi Ayurvedic recipe;
for an anit-histamine like effect on hay-fever, normalising mucous, normalising coughs, normalising lungs, normalising indigestion, normalising respiratory function.
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1 tsp ginger powder
1 tsp clove powder
2 tsp cardomom- fresh ground is ideal
3 tsp black pepper powder- fresh ground is ideal
4 tsp liquorice powder- available from health food shop, if you can not find it, soothing subsititutes are arrowroot, plantain, marshmallow, slippery elm powder.
Grind all ingredients together with a mortar and pestle, or coffee grinder.
Mix well and store in an airtight containeer.
To use; mix 50 / 50 with honey. One teaspoon powder with one teaspoon of honey. Or half teaspoon powder with half teaspoon honey.
If also suffering from a sore throat, add a few drop of lemon juice.
If also suffering from a cough add a few drops of fresh ginger juice.
CAUTION: if pregnant ginger in large amounts can be abortive.
If taking blood thining medication , or have a history of bleeding or clotting issues, please consult your doctor first.
